1) Story + 2) CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT + 3) FULL COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS + 4) STORY
Although versions of the Ecuadorian Cantuna legend have circulated for centuries, the earliest accounts were penned by the Franciscan friar Juan de Santa Gertrudis (1775) and the Jesuit priest Juan de Velasco (1789). This Legend is about an indigenous man called Cantuna who was charged with building the San Francisco Church in six months. He accepted the deal and worked on it, but unexpected things happened, and the work was late. As a result. He was desperate and asked for help, but only the devil appeared to “help.” He offered to finish the church on time, but Cantuna must give his soul to the devil in exchange. Cantuna accepted the deal because he had no choice. After all, in just one night, the timeline was over. The devil works quickly and hard in the company of his little devils. As a result, Cantuna realizes that he will lose his soul and decides to hide one stone from the construction. As the night ended, the devil finished the church and claimed the soul of Cantuna, but something went wrong, and the devil didn’t understand what happened. But then he saw that Cantuna had hidden one stone. He was angry and furious; he tried to return the stone, but the sun arose, and the devil was defeated.
